Frequently Asked Questions

This section contains a list of common questions you may have regarding the Medicare Enrollment process.

If you have a question, it might be answered here. If not, please feel free to call The Magician at 760-221-7383 and he will do his best to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Am I old enough to qualify for Medicare coverage?

Let's find out    (.. And learn some interesting facts about you and your birthday! )

Enter your birthday:

Can I enroll in Medicare if I'm under 65?

Yes.

Upon receiving your 25th Social Security Disability check you are eligible to enroll in Medicare regardless of your age.

Is my enrollment in Medicare automatic?

The simple answer is: NO...

You basically have 3 options:
  • You can enroll yourself online
Most seniors, even those who are somewhat computer savvy, find it difficult to complete the enrollment process online. You'll need to set some time aside as it's quite a lengthy process and not very 'user-friendly'. The software does not search for any possible additional benefits and, if time is of the essence, I strongly recommend that you do not take any chances with possible online processing errors/delays.

  • You can contact your local Social Security Office
Since the advent of Covid-19, Social Security offices have either been closed or have reduced their regular hours of operation. Social Security employees can help you start the enrollment process but they lack the qualifications needed to help you obtain the most beneficial plan and benefit packages. You want coverage that fits your particular needs and circumstances and, frankly, Social Security employees have neither the time nor the inclination to do the necessary research to help you in this regard.

  • You can have a proficient (licensed) agent enroll you...seamlessly
This is a no-brainer. A licensed agent can quickly determine which of the dozens of available plans and benefits are available and waiting for you. May I recommend The Medicare Magician? Super EZ, Super Fast and someone who will 'Get it right, 1st Time, Every Time!'. I can enroll you online, by telephone, or in-person. And remember, there is NEVER a charge or fee for my services...EVER!

You can contact The Magician anytime, day or night:

What is my monthly contribution for Part B Medicare?

Part B Medicare provides coverage for doctor visits and outpatient services.

The standard Part B contribution is $175 for 2024. Seniors with higher incomes could possibly pay more.

Please call for current contribution limits.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

Pre-existing conditions are not a problem...most plans include a 'continuation of care' feature to seamlessly adhere to your current health care regimen.

I am several months away from my 65th birthday. When should I start the Medicare enrollment process?

You should contact the Magician no less than 100 days prior to your 65th birthday.

What is the 'Initial Enrollment Period'?

The 'IEP' is a 7-month enrollment 'window'.

This window includes the 3 months PRIOR to your birthday month, your birthday month, and the 3 months following your birthday month.

Note: You can see your assigned enrollment period by entering your birthday in the FAQ section: 'Am I old enough to qualify for Medicare coverage?'

Are there penalties for late enrollment?

Yes, unfortunately there are...and these penalties are costly and never-ending; Medicare will apply these penalties every single month for the lifetime of your coverage and there is NO grace period granted.

Do not take any chances with this happening to you! Call the Magician right away if you are in doubt.

Can I keep my current doctor?

There is a very good chance that you will be able to keep your doctor!

Simply provide me with your doctor's name and I will personally check all Network affiliations; you will receive an answer right away as to whether or not you can keep your current doctor.

What happens if I'm not happy with my current plan or doctor?
Can I make a switch?

Yes.

Medicare does allow you to make changes to your plan or doctor.

Each year, during the annual re-enrollment period, you may change your current plan or doctor. The Magician can explain to you exactly how to switch plans or doctors. During the annual re-enrollment period, the Magician will help you:
  • Select a new plan
  • Submit all the required forms and paperwork
  • Ensure that you are receiving the proper coverage and all the benefits offered by your new plan

Turning 65 can actually be a pretty cool thing!

A lifetime of cherished memories, an appreciation of 'oldies' music, and the accumulated wisdom that comes only with age.

During your working career you 'donated' a substantial part of your income to fund the medical needs of your fellow Americans; those who had already reached 'senior citizen' status.  In addition, a small portion of this money was being set aside, in your name, to provide for your medical expenses when it eventually became time for you to become a 'senior' yourself.

Now that you have reached 65 (or will reach that milestone soon), it's time for you to collect on all of the benefits you have earned. The benefits currently offered have never been more comprehensive and all-encompassing.

Medical benefits are available to you as a qualified senior. However, they are not given to you automatically, you must get qualified and submit the appropriate enrollment forms.

That's right - All your Medicare benefits are sitting there waiting for you, however, you must get enrolled to receive them. This is where a qualified and licensed insurance agent can be of help.   An agent can explain to you the many coverage options you have as well as doing all the work of submitting the proper enrollment forms and necessary paperwork to the appropriate insurance companies and governmental agencies.

Enrolling in Medicare is not something you want to put off; like most government programs, there are strict rules and time-limits imposed on your enrollment into Medicare.

Talk with The Medicare Magician today to learn more about these rules and restrictions...he'll gladly answer any and all questions you may have. And, as far as medical insurance coverage goes, you'll have one more very good reason to celebrate turning 65!

My Name is Richard Villwock and I am "The Medicare Magician".

After an enjoyable career as a Fire & Casualty Agent, at age 62, I opted out for early retirement. A few months prior to turning 65, I received two important documents in my mailbox. The first document was a red, white and blue Medicare Card. The second document was a letter announcing that my Social Security check was now going to be $135 per month less! It had something to do with me paying my share of Part B Medicare (whatever that meant!)

You have either shared this experience or soon will.

But, fellow seniors, you can relax! The Magician has come out of retirement to help you with this dilemma!

Within a few months I completed the licensing and certification process and I have enjoyed helping other seniors access their Medicare benefits ever since.

I live in Hesperia, California with Cindy, my wife of years. We have two grown children, two grown grandchildren, and yes, another grandson who is years old!

I look forward to the opportunity to assist you in the Medicare enrollment process.
